Travel along the scenic Georgian Military Highway and discover a region known for its dramatic landscapes, snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, deep gorges, and traditional mountain villages.
The first stop is the Ananuri Fortress Complex, a stunning medieval site overlooking the turquoise waters of the Zhinvali Reservoir. With its defensive towers, ancient churches, and detailed stone carvings, Ananuri offers both rich history and spectacular panoramic views.
Continuing north, the journey leads to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda), one of the most breathtaking mountain regions in Georgia. Here you will visit the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, perched at 2,170 meters above sea level, with the majestic Mount Kazbek (5,054 m) rising in the background. The views from this location are among the most iconic in the entire Caucasus.
The route also includes the dramatic Dariali Gorge, a deep canyon carved by the Terek River, known for its wild beauty and steep mountain cliffs along the Russian border.

Early in the morning, we depart from Tbilisi to Kazbegi via the famous Georgian Military Highway. Our first stop is the Ananuri Fortress Complex, a beautiful medieval site with churches and towers overlooking the Zhinvali Reservoir. The fortress dates back to the 16th–17th centuries.
We continue our journey by crossing the Jvari (Cross) Pass at an altitude of 2,395 m above sea level and proceed to Stepantsminda, the administrative center of Kazbegi Municipality.
In Stepantsminda, we visit the iconic Gergeti Holy Trinity Church, located at 2,200 m altitude. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kazbek and the town below.
After visiting Gergeti Church, we continue to the spectacular Dariali Gorge, known for its dramatic cliffs and wild mountain scenery.
On the way back to Tbilisi, we stop to enjoy traditional Georgian cuisine, including local specialties such as khinkali and khachapuri. In the evening, we return to Tbilisi.
